What are you devoted to?

I love the last few days of the year, when time starts to blur and stretch and lose definition. With a new year looming, a lovely sense of spacious possibility emerges.

Looking ahead, I'm thinking of something the late beloved poet Mary Oliver wrote: "Attention is the beginning of devotion." I like the reminder that paying attention to something or someone — giving time, curiosity, interest, focus — can be a sacred act, a form of love. And yet there's a warning in there, too: what we pay attention to we elevate and invest with significance, whether intentionally or not.

In these last hours of the year, I'm taking some time to consider:

What would I like to pay more attention to in the year ahead?

What feels worthy of my devotion?

Can I regard my attention as a valuable currency and spend it a bit more wisely?

I think it's a worthy challenge.

One thing is for certain, it's been a pleasure devoting myself to helping people recover balance, vitality, connection, well-being, and inspiration over this topsy-turvy year. I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity — thank you for being a part of it!
